I’ve been playing VGC since 2011, and I’ve been writing about it for almost as long. I believe that the friendship between Trainers and their Pokémon is ultimately what leads to success in battle.  Here are my best results:

2011 San Jose Regional Champion (Senior division)

2011 US Nationals Top 4 (Senior division)

2015 St. Louis Regional Champion

2016 US Nationals 2nd place

2016 World Championships Top 8

2019 World Championships Top 16

2020 Dallas Regional Champion

Outside of Pokemon, I work as a PhD student in computer science and cognitive science. I’m not really a content creator or a YouTuber! Follow me on Twitter or you can read some of my other writing here. You can watch some of my Pokemon battles here:

2020 Dallas Regionals, 2016 World Championships, 2016 US National Championships, 2015 St. Louis Regionals.

I am also very interested in Pokemon AI. If you want to read some of my (old) thoughts, check them out here. Thank you for taking the time to read our guide!

UX/UI Developer

I’ve always been interested in VGC since learning about it in 2012, but have only been casually competing since 2019 with Sword and Shield.

I designed and built the site you are currently on! In learning competitive play I’ve become interested in helping others improve and understand the game on a deeper level. I am professionally a UX/UI engineer and thankful I get to use my skills to help build a resource like this for the community.

I’m kind of funny on the internet so feel free to follow me on Twitter or Twitch.

I’ve been playing VGC casually since 2014, but have been competing seriously since the release of Sword and Shield. I’m a big fan of Marks and Ribbons, and making fun memories with your Pokemon! My favorite Pokemon is Mienshao.

I helped put together the in-game resources guide with Max, and I’m really excited to help more people get into the wonderful game of VGC! Outside Pokemon I’m a graphic designer and cosplayer, and play bass in my spare time.

You can follow me on twitter here.

I’ve been playing Pokemon games since 2004 when I started with LeafGreen. I started getting into VGC in late 2019 with the release of Sword and Shield, and I helped put together the in-game resources guide with Scarlet. Outside of Pokemon, I work as a journalist and watch a lot of baseball.
